Coffee cup in hand, I step on the patio and take in the view of the emerald ocean. Palm trees sway in the breeze and the sunshine is already abundant even if it’s only 7 am. Normally, I’m not a morning person, but this is a great incentive! Belize knows how to welcome me to my first Caribbean vacation!

Living in the Rockies is amazing. However, every year I get the siren call of the sea and for that I need to leave Colorado. This year we headed to the East Coast and took a familiar drive to the beaches of South Carolina. From our former home state of Tennessee, Charleston, Folly Beach, and Isle of Palms were a short and scenic six-hour car ride away. We flew into Knoxville, then after a short reunion with good friends, we hopped in a rental car and headed out.

Our 2022 travels included a short stop in Miami to meet my brother. We usually try to get to Florida when’s it’s not a million degrees outside, but we had a unique opportunity to see my brother who lives in Europe and who was traveling to the U.S. for business. So we braved the heat and the Spring break crowds and made it to the ocean.

This year flew by quickly for me. I guess it’s true when they say time speeds up as you advance in years…. Although we didn’t travel as much as we would have like to, we had some good stops in the U.S., like Golden and Granby Lake in Colorado, Miami, Florida, and Salt Lake City, Utah. We also finally traveled abroad again to Romania and Greece with a short stop in Munich, Germany. Each one of our trips offered a different experience, and we enjoyed them all. Here are some highlights.

We set to explore Mallorca Island once again, this time taking the southern route to Cap Blanc, then to the Santanyi market, the fishing villages of Cala Figuera and Portopetro, to the laid back resort of Cala d’Or, and the beaches of Campos.
